I
suppose I always was a country girl by nature. Loved climbing trees, even with
my left arm in a cast. Toes in the mud. Laying in the grass, finding shapes in
the clouds as they floated on by. My favorite memories as a youngster were the
family camping trips. Specifically, the ones in Cape Hatteras, NC and then the
trek up to Kings Mt., NC to visit my Mom’s, Aunt and Uncle. Acres upon acres filled
with deep woods, trails and ponds that housed frogs, small fish and snakes. Contentment
was my friend there in the Mountains of North Carolina where I found deep satisfaction
sitting there at the ponds edge.
In
Autumn I will turn 49. As I recall those simpler days of serenity, my heart
yearns for simplicity. Why is it that my mind is so filled with monetary wishes?
Always looking ahead. Rarely at the now. I pray, “Lord. Awaken my senses
of the grandeur you have created which surrounds me. Let my soul forever sing
of Your Goodness. May my Joy be forever found in You as You are my heart’s
desire. Thank You, for this life You have so blessed me with. May it bring You Honor
and Glory all the rest of my days. AMEN!”
