They Came.
They came. One by one they came in out of the bitter cold, stomping the snow and salt residue from their boots. Warm hugs were exchanged. Winter coats hung. My heart leapt for joy as it was my extended side from my family. My family whom I love dearly and do not see nearly enough. They are my treasure.
Much laughter and reminiscing brought such delight as it could be heard throughout our home. Some shared amongst ourselves the different challenges we had experienced since our last meeting and marveled that each had an indistinguishable conclusion. God was always with us. He never left our side. His plan is greater than we could ever fathom. This sweet fellowship was a soothing balm to this yearning soul.
As tomorrow begins a New Year so do resolutions. I have several that are the norm such as eating less, reading more, etc. However, I am referring to a new declaration. I am striving to see my family more often. To spend time more with my little brother of 37 yrs. and his charming wife. He is a revered gift, therefore should be regarded as such through time spent together. The same goes for the rest of the Blacksmith Clan.
I believe the following quote to be a profound ending to these thoughts I have shared.
"Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it.....When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back....the greatest gift you can give is your time...." ~Rick Warren
