It is playing now in the background of my mind. Daily I listen to Jonathan David Helser's, song that he wrote from a prayer by Brennan Manning. The powerful prayer begins with the word, 'Abba'. In the New Testament it is an intimate term for God as Father; via Greek from Aramaic ῾abbā ‘daddy.’
As I listen to this song I can feel the warmth of His sweet presence. He is all around me now. He resides within me. I then 'bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.'~ 2 Corinthians 10:5b. Quietening my soul, He beckons me. Tears fall. I crawl upon His lap, His loving arms engulf me into the safety of His Will. He turns grey colors into glorious shades of Grace. I know who I am. I am, Heather, daughter of the Most High God. He is my reality. My spirit quietly sings along, "I belong to Him."
What I write is truth. It does not humanize God. It humanizes us. We allow Him to be our reality. No longer are we slaves to our former sin, or any diagnosis that we feel defines us. Now, His name defines who we are. Child of God. Precious One. Priceless.
Listen to the song of your heart. What are its lyrics? Is it one of sin, failure, sickness, or perhaps loneliness? One of hopelessness? Not knowing where or whom to turn? Quiet your soul and listen. There is One who is whispering your name. There is a hand reaching downward from above. Do not delay for now is the hour! Take heed and take hold. He loves you. He is your Papa. ῾Abbā ‘Daddy.’
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father". ~Romans 8:15 NIV
