Emma, Tyler, Andrew, Brittany, Anna The Ones I Love |
The gentle pitch of my daughters woodwind instrument floated softly downstairs from her bedroom where she was meticulously practicing. The rhythm is lovely and am enjoying it immensely. I am glad that I took the time to listen.
These slow paced days are precious and few with the hustle and bustle of a household of five. A new school year has begun. Junior at Wheaton College, Senior in High School, and a 7th grader swimming in a pond of 972, 7th and 8th graders. Not to mention all their extra curricular activities and football games that we will be attending. Such an exciting time. Though, as we hugged our son, good-bye, after moving him into his first apartment just off Campus, Andy and I had a lump in our throats as we drove away. With our son's arduous year ahead, his and our visits will be few and far between. We drink in every moment we get with our son and daughters today.
These are priceless gifts from Heaven, these days. Each moment. And if we aren't careful, they will pass us by. Daily and usually more than once I tell my family, "I love you". I pray these powerful words to never lose their impactive meaning. It reinforces the truth of my heart and its character that courses through my veins. My husband and children are my life. God birthed within me the strength and ability to love them with every ounce of my being. This is why I live. To love.
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13
