It Spreads like Wildfire

As I was reaching for a plate to place my morning toast upon, I could not help but notice our aquarium. Despite all of my husband's hard work and effort in cleaning and scrubbing our 'fire belly frogs' habitation in ridding it of all its fluorescent green algae, it was apparent that his attempts in doing so had not succeeded. For during the night it had seemed to spread throughout the gravel as wildfire to a dry timber.

I began to think of how unaddressed sin becomes as so within all of us. A raging fire destroying all healthy vegetation. I am one who knows this full well. Though a Christian for almost my entire existence, I too, as humanity, struggle with this very concept within my own Faith walk. In Romans 7, Paul transparently writes of his own struggles with his experience of sin. He writes, 15"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate to do.18I know that nothing good lives within me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want you to understand that Paul is confessing his weakness and because of his relationship with Christ Jesus, Paul recognizes that it is 23..."[Sin] waging war against my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work..."

How does the Apostle Paul rid himself of such a 'controlling power'? Surrender. To leave behind what once was and embrace the One Whom died for all of mankind. To stay connected to our Lord through the Word, Prayer, and Relationship. As long as we live here on earth, we will continue to battle sin and all of its components. But there is good news and that is one day not long from now, if we truly believe, we will cross to the other side. Becoming sinless. Whole. Oh, what a magnificent day that will be.

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit set me free from the law of sin and death." ~Romans 8:1-2
