The Conductor

Saturday I had the privilege of listening to my freshman daughter's band concert. The band all dressed in formal attire, was quite a sight to behold. Not to mention their talents to take in. Much improved since the beginning of fifth grade when they had first chosen which instrument they would like to master.

We were able to find four seats in the front row to contain my family and I. A first time for all. Anna was the first chair in the front row just several feet from us and each time she played I could hear every note. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her fingers move to and fro as they gently struck the different keys that made up the beautiful notes, combined with all the other instruments, rang beautifully throughout the gymnasium.

My attention was then drawn to the conductor. So studious in his tuxedo, making sure that with each graceful movement of his hand gesture the band would know when to begin, providing the musicians with the correct tempo to follow, to reach that dynamic crescendo, and then to bring the song to its finish, What I noticed above all else was the great delight that shown upon his face as he looked from one musician to the next. Such devotion was expressed through the enormous smile he wore.

I believe that is how our Heavenly Father sees us. With immense love and devotion, He conducts our days according to His Will. Each morning as I awake, my prayer is, "Lord, conduct my life and this day according to Your Will. On earth as it is in Heaven. ~ Amen". His Mercy is new every morning. His love is unconditional. His Grace is never ending.
