Hope. It calms the raging storm of worry that tosses our thoughts to and fro. It brings peace to a weary soul. It gives strength to press on. Hope is the anchor to which we grasp when the world around us no longer makes sense.
Hope gets us out of bed in the morning. It brings us to our knees. This one word bridges the gap of uncertainty to the One who holds us within the very palm of His hand. Hope draws us to touch the very hem of Christ's garment. It transcends all understanding. Hope is the trust that I breathe in daily. Without it my life would be one without meaning.
So I am going to run this race God has set before me. The terrain is rocky in places where I have lost my footing and He has caught me. There are also cool, lush valleys where I have found rest. Death comes to us all, however it is how we choose to live along this precious road that brings purpose and reason to our lives. We were not promised an easy life, but we have been promised one in which He will never leave nor forsake us. This is where I live.
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." ~Isaiah 40: 28-31
"God did not promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way." ~ Unknown
