The Inevebility of Change

As I lounge here on this overcast morning and listen to a song bird flitting about, my attention then turns to the echoes of hammering coming from a not so distant neighborhood which lies less than a mile behind ours. It is an unkind reminder that sooner rather than later, houses will line up behind our peaceful property and the other homes that make up our little community.
Homes will replace the cornfields my youngest and I have hiked through. Hiking to the nearby pond as we breathe in the fragrant wildflowers that grow intermittently between the rows of corn. Photographing once mounds of dirt, now large hills with rolling grasses and an almost hidden Coyote den. Will their safe-haven be destroyed? Will their howls no longer be heard in the dark of night nor sleek forms be seen walking in mid-day the parameters of our land? I admit their presence is something that generates a sense of curiosity for especially my youngest and I. The turkey which takes an occasional stroll through our yard early morn or late afternoon? My Emma and I burst into laughter as his comical gobbling rings out, calling to his nearby mate. And what of all the other Birds and Woodland Creatures that have made their homes here? Will they move on or adapt to their new surroundings?

As change is inevitable, we have the option to accept this necessary conversion with all its opportunity for growth or fight a losing battle with an attitude of hostility. Though abhorrent it may be, there is nothing we can do to alter the winds of change. Its course is written. Its lines are drawn. An attitude of positivity is a must. So. Let us ride the wind and see where it will bring us. You never know what is just around the bend.

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath.” ~Hebrews 6:17
